Nice and 'huge' water lily
Head Temple of the Otani school (Jodo-Shin sect of Buddhism). Founded in 1602 by the 12th Head Priest Kyojo on the land donated by Tokugawa Ieyasu 1st shogun of Edo Period. The Goei-do (Founder's Hall) enclosing an space equal to 927 tatami mats is one of the biggest wooden architectures in the world and houses the image of the priest Shinran the founder of the sect while the Amida-do Hall houses the main image of the temple the image of Amida Buddha. These halls were rebuilt in 1895 (original halls were desroyed by fire). Ropes woven from hemp and hair contributed by women devotees were used to raise the huge beams.
